Week Seven: Bonus Question

One easy and one hard one this week.

Easy

It was cool that Jodi and Christie got to paint an elephant, but we know it wasn’t for the actual Jaipur Elephant Festival.  How do we know that? (20 points)

Hard

For their first clue in India, the teams had to find a big solitary tree with an old man under it.  This is a very typical aspect of a classic style of Japanese theatre.  1) What is the name of the Japanese style of theatre? (20 points) 2) What play by an Irish playwright who was very influenced by this particular style of theatre did I see performed in Stratford-Upon-Avon, England, in May of 1998? (40 points)

Week Six: Bonus Question

There’s a lot of talk going on on Television Without Pity about how the underwear run wasn’t “culturally relative” and just a chance to embarass the conetestants.

Personally, I loved it, and running in your underwear in the winter?  Sounds totally like something some cold weather towns would do.

3.  The Minneapolis theatre company which produced it was Theatre Unbound, directed by my friend Becky Rizzio.  I also hosted this company’s benefit in 2008, at which I did a dramatic reading of Schadenfreude from Avenue Q.  Funny enough, they didn’t ask me to host it this year.  <sigh>
